Tuko is the Filipino term for the Philippine Bow-Fingered Gecko. It's officially known as the Tokay Gecko. Just recently, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources had issued a memorandum to all their field offices to be more vigilant in monitoring the illegal collection, transport, and trade of the geckos. This was after reports surfaced that these certain geckos are being hunted down and sold at high prices to still unidentified buyers. Apparently, the geckos are being traded through the internet where a single gecko can command a price of P600,000 pesos.
