According to a Philippine Star report, International Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (IPI) has announced the filming of a movie about Pedro Calungsod, the Filipino Catholic martyr from Cebu City who will soon be canonized this coming October. The canonization was announced by Pope Benedict XVI last February 18, 2012 at Saint Peter's Basilica.

The biopic is tentatively titled Pedro. The report also stated that former child star Nino Muhlach will be co-directing the film with Richard Ang.

Actor JM de Guzman is reported to have landed the title role in the film. The young actor will be portraying the Blessed Pedro Calungsod.

The movie is expected to be finished by October in time for Calungsod's canonization.
