Malajog Beach and Bangon Falls Being Eyed as Tourist Destinations

The City of Calbayog is planning to develop two tourist spots in order to attract more visitors to the city. Said spots are Malajog Beach and Bangon Falls. The city's acting tourism officer Ronald Ricafort stated that the two areas are being prioritized for development and rehabilitation by the city government.

Malajog Beach is located at barangay Malajog and it features clear water, grayish sand, rock formations and greeneries. It's a popular destination for locals in the area. It's a 40-minute ride from the city proper. Among the developments being planned by the city government is the rehabilitation of the road leading to the beach, construction of cottages, putting up of toilet and bath facilities, construction of a parking area, and the installation of food outlets.

The big plan, according to Ricafort, is the construction of an 800-meter nature walk that leads to the rock formations facing the Samar Sea. Three viewing decks and three hanging bridges will also be built. That's not all. A zip line also being planned. The line will come from the rock formations going to an islet in front of the beach.

The city government is also planning on developing Bangon Falls as a tourist destination. The falls is located in barangay Bugtong, a village which is about 23 kilometers from the city center. The falls is also near to another waterfall, the Tarangban Falls.
